Lives of the Saints – Episode 15 – St. Luke

I guess we all have weeks when we feel like we actually got something accomplished, vs. feeling as though we are going in circles (or as we were taught to say in the Corps of Cadets: around and around at ever-increasing speeds in ever-decreasing circles until… I leave you to guess the rest).  This week was one of the former not of the latter type with several major accomplishments (not all of which were actually accomplished this week.  Many have now come to fruition following sporadic efforts during late Winter and early Spring:

Luke-Russian Orthodox-18th CEpisode Fifteen, the next-to-last episode in the First Series (the 1928 B.C.P. Saints) of the Lives of the Saints was recorded, edited and readied for upload to our You Tube channel. Continue reading “Lives of the Saints – Episode 15 – St. Luke”

Lives of the Saints – Episode 11 – St. Peter

Like Gene Autrey I’m glad to be “back in the saddle again!”  Careful listeners will be able to tell that I haven’t completely recovered from my head cold.

The Lives of the Saints – First Series – Episode 5

paul-rublevEpisode Five in The Lives of the Saints – First Series, focused on the life and contributions to the Church Universal of St. Paul, was uploaded on January 25th, the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul.  In addition to the familiar unfinished icon by the celebrated Russian icon painter Andre Rublev, I’ve included a 14th C. mosaic at Chora Church, Istanbul (formerly Constantinople) and an early 20th C. mosaic from Romania; and photographs of the exterior and interior of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, Rome, the place of St. Paul’s remains. New Videos in 2016 A.D.

In this Advent Season, when Christians prepare themselves for both the first and second/final coming of our Lord and Saviour, we should understand what the Christian Faith is about.   No matter what a certain unnamed politician says, Christianity is not a religion which includes “bedrock” teachings of all other religions.  It is the source of the Christian Truth found in the Gospel accounts of the divine origin, Incarnation, life, teachings, Crucifixion, Death on the Cross, Resurrection and promise of Life Everlasting in the divine Kingdom of the Father of the only-begotten Son of God.

I’ve been working on the preliminary plans for a new series of Seasonal Videos and a separate series of Teaching Videos which will be produced in A.D. 2016.   The first in the Seasonal Videos series is a two episode series on Epiphany.   Continue reading “New Videos in 2016 A.D.”

Twenty-third Sunday After Trinity

My Podcast Homily for the Twenty-third Sunday After Trinity was uploaded to the AIC’s Podbean channel this morning.   The readings are Philippians 3:17-21 and Matthew 22:15-22.  I augmented the commentary on the Gospel reading with references to Isaiah 64:8 and Psalm 138:4, 5.   The first closing prayer was a catena of my own based on Psalm 145:2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 13 and 1 (in that order).  There are only two more Sundays in the Church Calendar (Trinity 24 and Sunday Next Before Advent).  I’ve already recorded both but not uploaded them to the AIC web site.  Listen to the Trinity 23 Podcast Continue reading “Twenty-third Sunday After Trinity”
